There is no better time than right now to become an informed consumer of senior living communities. Like any important decision it takes some time, research, and preparation to make the right choice for you.

• Take time to visit at least three residences and go prepared to ask questions.
• Talk to residents and staff, ask them about their experience.
• Enjoy a meal or think about a trial stay for a period of time. It’s the only real way to know how you are going to feel about a particular residence.

A Senior Living community should be more than just where you live. It should be where you are understood, and a place where you feel comfortable. It should give you a sense of home.

It is often a fall, a change in health, or the loss of a spouse that will prompt a move. Knowing your options will allow you to make the best decision possible during what could be a time of emotional or physical distress. Thinking ahead gives you the time to comfortably make that adjustment and gives you plenty of time to consider the furnishings and treasured items you would want to take with you and arrange for the sale of items you will not need.
